2025 AHA PALS - Original Certification
This Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class will follow the 2025 American Heart Association (AHA) PALS Guidelines, featuring the latest evidence-based recommendations for pediatric resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care. The updated guidelines focus on high-quality CPR, age-specific assessment and interventions, team communication, and refined algorithms for respiratory distress, shock, bradycardia, tachycardia, and cardiac arrest in children.

PALS Provider Course (2-Day Initial Course)
This two-day Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals who are seeking initial PALS certification or whose certification has expired.
Course Format
The 2025 PALS Provider Course combines required pre-course preparation with in-person instruction and hands-on training. Prior to attending the course, participants must complete the required Pre-course Self-Assessment and review assigned online learning materials. This preparation helps ensure students arrive ready to actively participate in the classroom and skills sessions.
During the in-person portion of the course, instructors guide participants through interactive discussions, skill stations, and pediatric emergency scenarios using manikins and resuscitation equipment. Students practice critical pediatric resuscitation skills while receiving coaching and real-time feedback from instructors.
Throughout the course, participants must demonstrate competency in required PALS skills according to the official skills testing checklists. Students must also complete and pass the PALS Provider written examination.
Intended Audience
The PALS Provider Course is intended for healthcare professionals who manage or assist in the care of pediatric patients experiencing respiratory distress, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest. This includes personnel working in emergency medical services, emergency departments, pediatric units, intensive care units, and other clinical environments. Typical participants include physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who require PALS certification.
Course Content
The 2025 PALS course focuses on the recognition and management of pediatric emergencies using a structured and team-based approach. Key topics include:
-
Pediatric patient assessment using the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT)
-
The Evaluate–Identify–Intervene systematic approach to pediatric emergencies
-
Recognition and treatment of respiratory distress, respiratory failure, and shock
-
Application of PALS algorithms for bradycardia, tachycardia, and cardiac arrest
-
Pediatric resuscitation techniques and post–return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) care
-
Effective communication, leadership, and team dynamics during resuscitation
-
Management of oxygenation, ventilation, and metabolic or fluid imbalances
Skills Expectations
Participants should have a basic understanding of resuscitation principles prior to attending the course. During the class, students will practice and demonstrate competency in:
-
Performing high-quality BLS according to current AHA CPR and ECC Guidelines
-
Recognizing and interpreting cardiac rhythms on ECG
-
Understanding PALS medications and treatment protocols
-
Providing effective bag-mask ventilation and airway management
Course Features
The 2025 PALS Provider Course, based on the latest American Heart Association Guidelines, emphasizes rapid pediatric assessment, early recognition of life-threatening conditions, and coordinated team-based resuscitation. The course highlights improving oxygen delivery, reducing oxygen demand, managing fluid and metabolic imbalances, and delivering appropriate interventions for pediatric respiratory and cardiac emergencies.
Skills Testing
Participants will complete several required evaluations during the course, including:
-
High-Quality BLS Skills Testing, focusing on effective chest compressions and minimal interruptions
-
Megacode team scenarios, where participants demonstrate coordinated pediatric resuscitation management and teamwork
Course Completion
Participants who successfully complete all course requirements will receive an American Heart Association PALS Provider eCard, which is valid for two years.
